Reading The Mocha Manual to Turning Your Passion into Profit by Kimberly Seals-allers

If I haven’t mentioned it before in any other blog, support your local libraries! In a world chock-full-o’ Amazon, Google, Apple, Windows, and all other sorts of virtual matter, having a free resource like the local library at our disposal should elevate our happy into a state of over-frenzied joy–since it is a free resource and all.

Growing up, meeting up with your crew (friends) at the public library was just as trendy as meeting up in the food court at the mall–because we all know the food court was the most happening spot in the whole mall, with the exception of the game room, of course. We were anxious to check out youth favorites like Where The Sidewalk Ends, play around on the old Mac Computers with the dial-up internet, or read the current edition of the latest music magazine our parents wouldn’t allow us to subscribe to. Plus, having a library card was like the equivalent to owning a platinum Visa card. It was all you needed.

My family takes a little excursion to the public library every weekend. I keep my boys on a reading schedule of 1 book a day for each day of the month. And because buying 30 to 31 books every month would cost a pretty coin, we go the free route by politely escorting them over to the kids section of the library and allowing them to pick out suitable books until their heart’s content. We also hit the video section and pick out a few educational videos as well. However, this free-for-all doesn’t stop at the kids, mommy and daddy take advantage as well.

Speaking of which, while doing so, I came across a terrific piece of material that I wanted to share with you all. It’s called The Mocha Manuel to Turning Your Passion into Profit – How to Find and Grow Your Side Hustle in Any Economy by Kimberly Seals-Allers. It is rockin’ every part of my mental right now. My husband and I are in the darkroom stage of some business ventures we’re working on and the monotony of it becomes a little discouraging every now and then. But, while reading this sister’s journey, I’m more encouraged than ever to continue pressing onward and upward with our plans. Let me share with you just a few tidbits from the book.

On deciding when to go for it…”There were plenty of reasons to create that someday scenario. You know how we wait for the one illustrious day when somehow our finances, romantic relationship, personal values, spiritual state, and business skills are perfectly aligned with the constellations and everything in life is wonderfully and miraculously in place…those days are hard to come by…I’d argue that they do not exist.”

On finding your business niche… “Sometimes your best asset is your creativity or a great idea.”

On just going for it…”If you don’t have a brilliant, patent-worthy idea, no worries. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel to have a kick-butt business venture; sometimes you just have to improve on something that’s already out there.”

These few morsels don’t even scratch the surface of the invaluable information Kimberly Seals-Allers is sharing in this book. Why am I sharing this with you? For you to support great work, of course. Secondly, whenever I come across material like this, I don’t like to be selfish with it. There are some wonderful nuggets in this work that I believe could help any person struggling with the idea of whether or not to pursue a business concept and exactly how to get started.

Go check it out.
